After numerous technological challenges (Keenan, Helen) several Rotarians were able to finally make contact.  We all expressed our hope to get back to NORMAL, whatever that may be.

Updates:
>John McKinney gave an excellent update on how the hospital is doing its best in preparation for the unknown COVID 19
>BB Fire Department donated $1k to Interact for its service (serving/delivering meals); normally this goes to the Little League but that has been cancelled
>BBMS students will be graded on a Pass/Fail for this semester due to the circumstances and unknown future
>A discussion centered around the concern for mental health during this time; Mental health is a focus for DOVES
>FIREWORKS UPDATE:  the city and Visit BB have contracted with PYRO this year and agreed to subsidize the event due to the fund raising challenges with businesses being closed; the PYRO contract contains language that will allow a fireworks show take place up until October 31.
>May 20th:  a meeting will take place to discuss the future for the BBQ and fireworks
>May 22:  Andy and Jan will be on the "Price is Right"; be sure to TUNE in

>Guest presenters Jana Saderup and Julie Dawson Parlee presented an overview of their business, Bear Education Service and Training (beareducationalservices.com); they provide tutoring (k-adult), hiring practices, resume preparation and reception skills among other business skills.  They cover a wide range of training for retail business employment. Thank you Jana and Julie
>"Inter-generational " efforts by Interact:  Interact is asking all age groups to assist with their food delivery program
>Renee and Barnstorm provided BB Disposal with lunch which included burgers and fries in appreciation of their community dedication during this difficult time.
>Food Panty has received $8,700 in donations for "million meals"--thanks to all who have participated.  Rotarians can
  assist every Thursday from 10-3.

>JULY 4 FIREWORKS are still a "go" at this point;  a HUGE thanks to Jim Miller for his work on obtaining
  permits from the city to do a "downsized" July 4 BBQ @ Veterans' Park
>Food Pantry: on May 14 Helen and several Rotarians helped hand out 1.071 meals including 180 pizzas donated by Dominos;  thanks to all the Rotarians who participated and donated.
PROGRAM: Rachel, a Life Coach, presented interesting insights into personal and business responses to COVID 19. The presentation included strategies to prepare for disasters including mental as well as resourceful.  Thank you Rachel.
>Dick Shaw gave an update on Governor-elect Valdez' (Barry) Zoom meeting with the incoming directors.  A main point is the COVID crisis and help us look at getting members and speakers involved in a new way-a positive out of a difficult situation.
>An active discussion of those tuned in followed.  Many thoughts were expressed about the future for our club: # of meetings, meeting times, types and how we can use the Zoom Technology to improve our club
